Eating Your Invasives Virtual Presentation
Did you know that there are 285 documented invasive plant species in Pennsylvania alone? Special for Invasive Species Week, discover more about invasive species, how they impact the local ecosystems, and how to remove some of them during this hour long virtual zoom presentation! We shall discuss invasive plant species such as Lesser Celandine, Multiflora Rose, Japanese Barberry, Garlic Mustard, Wineberry, Japanese Honeysuckle, Norway Maples, and more.
Not only will you learn about how to remove these plants, but you’ll also learn how to slow their spread while making the most out of their plant parts by eating their seeds, fruits, leaves, petals, and more! We will talk about several plant-based snack & drink recipes, along with some medicinal herbal uses of invasive species. Get inspired and excited about removing these invasive plants creatively!
Admission to this virtual “lunch-and-learn” is $5. A portion of the proceeds will benefit habitat preservation efforts (which include invasive removal efforts!).
Zoom link will be emailed to you upon registration. If you miss the program, or can’t make it during that time, still register anyway! An exclusive recording link will be emailed to all registrants the next day. If you know that you will miss the program, please email any potential questions or plants you’d like addressed during the presentation ahead of time to Marissa, at mjacobs@theartofecology.com and I will make sure to answer them during the presentation.
