Fall School Holiday Camp Themes:
September 26th: Nature’s Bounty
As autumn gets into full swing, there are many plants that are ready for harvesting and enjoying the bounty of nature! We’ll examine some wonderful fall goodies that grow wild, as well as take a look at who uses and relies on those plants. Campers will get to explore the natural world through foraging forays, hikes, eco-games, and art projects (such as creating their own paints & dyes and more) designed to get them learning more about the natural world and what makes these autumn plants so special!
October 4th: Birding Bonanza (Part 1)
Fall Migration is ramping up and there are many birds flying by Pie Bird Farm! During Part 1 of this camp, campers will learn how to identify birds both by sight and sound as well as what makes birds so special and important to our ecosystems through birding walks, eco & bird-song games, and binocular/field guide usage. Campers will also get to create their own feeders to attract fall migratory songbirds.
October 5th: Birding Bonanza (Part 2)
Fall Migration is ramping up and there are many birds flying by Pie Bird Farm! During Part 2 of this camp, campers will investigate the natural phenomenon of migration and how birds know that the seasons are changing. Campers will participate in more birding hikes, get to examine Kestrel Nest Boxes, play migration-games, and create their own window clings to protect fall migratory songbirds from fatal window-strikes.
