Firefly Frenzy! Walk & Workshop

Join The Art of Ecology for an evening summer workshop, geared towards getting you outside, exploring firefly habitats, and discovering a few ways that we can take easy actions to support Pennsylvania’s state insect that may visit their property.

What to Expect:

During this Firefly Frenzy! workshop, participants will explore what attracts these insects that light up the night with a walk through a meadow property! During this  walk, participants will also learn about a firefly’s life cycle, what plants (and animals) they need to survive, their role in our ecosystem, along with some fascinating trivia about these luminescent insects!  At the end, participants will get to take home native grasses & plants to support firefly populations as well as make a little tissue-paper luminary jar, perfect for catching fireflies in on a warm summer evening (we’ll even learn how to handle them safely!). Event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.
